Yeah, the IMDB is famous for 'proving' alot a stuff like Suzuki
Koji writing the screenplay for 'Ring 0', or the director of Ring
and Ring 2 being Takigawa Chisui...
Anyhoo good call on the
Harry Potter tip. I never liked the books, or the brat...

Troll is a cool movie though, in a sort of mid-eighties no-CGI
(good thing! good thing!) Charles Band way.
JK Rowling was
also sued by the author of some other American children's book,
wasn't she, who was claiming that the estimable JK had ripped of
their book. It has to be said, the similarities are startling, but
I'm not sure of the final outcome of the litigation (or whether it's
over yet).
Harry Potter's okay, but if you want to read truly
great children's literature, read Phillip Pulman (especially the
'His Dark Materials' trilogy), or, going back a bit, all of the
short stories by a guy called Robert Westall. These rank among the
best ghost/supernatural stories ever written, adult or child,
especially the collection called Break of Dark. UK ringworms may
know him best for writing 'The Machine Gunners', which was big in
schools for a long time.

Harry Potter!
Another good 'children's' author (his books are really just as much
for adults) is John Gordon, author of such books as The House on the
Brink, The Giant Under the Snow, and The Spitfire Grave.
The
Giant Under the Snow gave me the creeps as a child, and I'm sure it
would still have some effect today.
