Lord Of The
Rings: FOTR
Well, Ive pre-ordered my copy! Its out Tuesday 6th Agust, which is
my 18th birthday! But I cant buy the sod till the 8th, so Im a
little miffed! Anyway, its on sale everywhere in the world (barring
Bin Ladens gaff I persume) from 6th and the DVD has two discs! One
with just the bloody ace film and the 2nd jam packed with extras. I
cant wait, thank god Im getting a DVD Player for me b-day! But, in
November its re-released as 4 DISCS! One with the film on it, the
other 3 bloody extras. And one contains 30 mins of unseen footage!
If only they would do that for the Ring remake......

Yeah, the second release of Fellowship is meant to be better than
the first DVD release. And the third is just a DVD with a pair of
bookends or something stupid like that.

deciding to misuse information given to me by my evil corporations
computer (muahahahahaha!) I can tell you that the special edition
collectors boxset will be released in the UK on November 4th priced
at £44.99 (TBC) unfortunately it doesn't give details of extras etc
but Im hearing rumors there are 4 discs (err for one film jeezus
sounds promising!!) so it seems to me if you just want a copy of the
movie thenbuy it on the 6th its still got 2 discs and the extras are
pretty good and its half the price (17.99) but if you're a full-on
fan (like me) then the boxset is gonna be worth waiting for
"it's
just my way of spitting water at life"

a shocking abuse
of Kevin Bacon
A no-extra black market DVD was actually released probably about 5
months ago. It was letterboxed and the transfer quality was quite
high, but had a message that scrolled at the bottom of the screen
every 15-20 minutes saying to the effect that this was a director's
copy and you should not be watching this.
The rear of the
DVD was great, it was so obviously bootleg-- for the "summary" they
merely cut-and-pasted an obscure article on Chinese dating
practices, and the credits were for "Flatliners," right down to the
cast list!

A bit more
info.....
The two-disk set out this week has the film on the first disk,
while the second disk is TWO hours of extras....available widescreen
or fullscreen, While the four disk set will have the extra 30 min's
RE-INTEGRATED back into the movie, spanning the first two disks,
with the 3rd and 4th disks' containing over SIX hours of
extras.....so not all of the same stuff.
And the Special
limited boxset has the 4 disk set, the National Geographic making of
thing disk, and two bookends of the Statues of the two kings on the
river (can't remember their name to save my life)

That's the Argonath....
I rented the DVD of Fellowship last
Friday, and I'm looking forward to the November special edition, not
just for the extra half-hour, but for the commentaries with Peter
Jackson and the cast - should be great!
Before the film was
released last December I managed to get my hands on a pirated VCD
copy that was at least watchable, but damn, it looks sooo much
better on DVD

Yeah, both releases are sated to be totally different. The first
comes with different commentarys than the collectors editions. Plus
both will have different extras. I'll get both just for the
commentary

I expect any 'real' fan will want both. I ordered one of each a
couple of months ago, so at least I get a 10% discount and - wait
for it - a free LOTR keyring! I think I'm turning into a geek, God
help me

Well I grabbed LOTR today and bloody hell - it is great to see the
film again!
And like George "Attack of the Clowns" Lucas once
said "Sound is half of the experience"!
after about half an
our of playing with volume settings this sounded FANTASTIC on my 5.1
set-up!
One thing tho - i advise turning up your centre
forward speaker up, or (as with most new films) the main speech is
gonna get drowned in a sea of music and a psychopathic
sub-woofer!
But yeah - since if i wanted to watch the film i
wouldnt want to mess around with swopping discs i decided to grab
this one - and grab the 2nd set in the winter sales
And as for bootlegs... i have the worst know to man (or
hobbit) - the discs (all 3!) had:
1) REALLY bad sound
2)
The worst case of "i havnt got a camcorder in this cinema - this is
a bag i have under my arm" leading to lots of head rests in the
way!
3) The film was 1h 30 long!!! they MISSED moria AND half of
the ending!
And best of all...
4) the menus had
"nobody does it better" playing in the b/g 
I DID get it free tho

Haha! That's even worse than the the one I saw recently, which had
sillouettes of people scratching their heads in front of the screen
and getting up to go to the toilet!

Wow...the one I
HAD was a 4 disc vcd version...
I think it was taken from the same screener tape that J mentioned,
as it had the scrolling warning near the bottom. However, I would
have LOVED that dvd...saves swappin disks', darnit!!
I picked
up the dvd today, along with COLLATERAL DAMAGE ( Arnolds best so
far, and highly underated ), and CLASH OF THE TITANS for the
missus.....
And I'll be getting the 4 disc super special eddy
when it hits in Nov, as the extras are all different, and the extra
scenes are in the show.....sucks to have to swap disks', but that
bastard will be LONG!!
Next up is that super cool 2 disk
Aussie version of PREDATOR!!

The Aussie version of Predator does INDEED rule, my friend! I was
watching it with a friend the other day. There's an extra that has
the original "Predator" design, with Arnie being chased by what
looks like a stupid friggin' pink dinosaur! Bwa ha ha!! WHAT THE..?
Can't say it would've been wise to go with that design ...

pink version...
From what I understand, Jean Claude Van Damme was set to do the
critter, and had to leave early on...from what I hear, he is NOT
actually in the film...perhaps that pink one was him?

i got it today, and instead of it being £25 in most places, mine
was £16! with both discs, but i didnt have to pre-order it,
sainsburys had about 6 dvd sets left and.........20 videos left!
hahahaha the VHS is getting whooped!
