Ahem...
hello.... (a bit late... soz!)
Ahem.... yes yes, I thought I might as well put on an introduction,
after Turtle just suggested it in some other thread (after my sleep
deprevation of last night n the night before, I'm now all ill, so
stay back...) aanyhoos... I don't tend to post much because I can't
afford to buy any DVDs (I get to see all these filmys through
Uchujin!! ^_^ less im...) because I'm a skin filmy student type.
Anyhoos, I just generally like films I suppose... odd ones.... very
odd ones usually....
oh yes.... I've been trying to teach
myself japanese for aout 4 or 5 years and so far all I can say is "I
am a carrot" and other such useful phrases!... (which would expain
why ya haven't seen me around on that delightful j-language forum...
doh!)
Right... I'm gonna sign off now and get some orange
juice! >_<

watching hours, over hours, over hours of Anime and Japanese TV to
get a feel for it. Good Luck!!

I did try taking Japanese classes but something happened to the
teacher, so classes stopped. And I admit I'm too lazy to find a new
Japanese intermediate class!

Intros
Maybe it would be a great idea to create a topic in the forum for
introductions.

Hmm yer - sounds good - go for it Kitano! Clone!! Id sure like to
introduce myself for the...3rd time!!!!! Ho ha - maybe they'll get
better...and include a pic maybe?? Hehehe who knows!! But there are
200 members or summet?? Itd be cool to get intros off all o them!!
(or the ones that post at least...)
....which makes me
wonder where the 200 people are?? I know myself that ive introduced
some ppl to the forum who post once or twice, get scared, and return
to their "normal" (as normal as anyone knowing me) lives.
Id
make the topic but the buttons allllll the way up there and itd mean
me moving my mouse. ~~~~~

ore wa orenji
jusu desu (dont know carrot!)
I've been self-learning Japanese for about 2 months now and it's
perfectly possible (if admittedly a little hard) I wouldn't go in
for the films and anime too much as its kinda like jumping in the
deep end when the swimming pool's been de-oxygenated
and don't worry bout making a tit of yourself in the Nihongo forum
either...I've been doing it for ages! it's fun I tells ya

Ah well... I generally make a tit o yself everywhere else, so I
s'pose why stop now?! Look out for posts sayig "Watashi wa ninjin

I think generally the whole 'japanese is impossible'
thing stems from the fact that I do no work.... (no time....

and. yeh... on your own time uchijin! (hehehe....

It's a wicked language but a whole lot of fun. Feel free to ask any

Re:

I started my Japanese course last Tuesday. I have been self
teaching since last December and have fair sized a vocabulary under
my belt already.
It was weird, the tutor as soon as she found
out just how much I knew, was asking me so many questions, kind of
testing the water or my knowledge so to speak. I am happy to say
that I surprised her. I have never been instantly made 'top of the
class' before, I have always had to work hard to get there. But on
Tuesday, I was getting asked first for every question -god, talk
about pressure to perform!
Luckily, if there was something
that I didn't know, I said, and was treated like all the other
studenst for that time. I'm glad, I think I am going to have a good
relationship with Helen (my tutor), and a very good time going to
classes.
I would reccomend it to anyone. It's hard, but it
really is so worth it. If only to be able to say, "Moshi moshi?"
when you answer the phone. (Lol, sorry, it's my favourite Japanese
word/phrase)

heh, those peeps who've seen

My

(i.e. I can scream "nan-dai-oh" at the top of my voice but I can't
spell it or tell anyone what it means....great!)

Tetsuo and his

Yeah, the phone dialogue scene, one of the most intelligently
scripted converstions ever on
cinema.
Mega-spoiler:
The conversation ends with the
killer line:
"Aa...aa".

Yeah, this one is Tadanobu Asano, a young musician turned young
actor. He's very cool!
The pic is from the movie "Koroshiya
Ichi" (Ichi the Killer), which I hope to get to see soon!! Uncut,
that is.

Hey, that's the dutch cover? December?!!
AAArrrrRRRghGhHHh!!!!!!
At first, I thought that Asano was
Ichi, but no, he's Kakihara. He seems to be the star in the
movie, although he didn't get his name in the title...
By the
way, I wandered through CdJapan, and saw listed an ANIME version of
Ichi, which supposedly takes place AFTER the movie, as it says in
the description; it's called "Episode 0"...

Hehe, it's an awesome cover eh!? ... It was scheduled for Nov 19th,
but they put it back to cram more extras on it! (thats the rumour
anyhow, theres already everything you could want on there! 2 discs I
think!)
Yeah I love that about the film, everyone I've shown
it to thought the guy with the slit must be the badass.. but if he's
not Ichi?... hehe..
That anime sounds pretty cool. Hope it's
based on the film rather than the manga... Haven't seen the manga
personally, but I love the style of the film. It would be nice to
see that sheer Miike inventiveness in an anime!
Heard a rumour that Miike was doing a voice on the anime, but I
don't care too much for that either way.. I'd rather him keep workin
on films.. 8 so far this year?... damn...

Re: ???
Yup, it's a cool cover, I always liked that pic.
Relatively
to the anime, I can't find any more info on it, through the net,
maybe only in japanese sites so far. The word is that the story in
the manga completes the story in the movie and vice-versa. They say
the ending of the movie gets explained through the manga version.
This time both manga and movie are 'attached'. There's also a
"manga and movie guide"...
The news on the anime version got
me by surprise, I must say!

Re: ???
Medusa apparently, the people who do the Hong Kong Legends discs!
yay! they have a deal with a dutch company (DWF or something? which
is why the HKL stuff is released in Holland) thats why there will be
sooo many extras, (including commentary by Bey Logan and Alien
Sun)... The BBFC (uk censors) are ok with the violence apparently,
but the 'sexualised violence' will be chopped. .... so, Dutch and UK
discs should be the same, appart from a couple of mins missing from
the UK version... I think.. apparently.. so the rumour goes...

If the 'sexualized violence' is gonna be butchered, I'll get the
japanese disc...
I heard that the HK releases are cut exactly
on the sex violence, and not quite that much on the 'normal'
violence.

Re: ???
Yeah, I have the HK version and the cuts are pretty obvious (and
useless! most of the violent bits have had the effect shot taken out
yet still look freaky enough. eg, suzuki being jabbed about the
face, the hot oil, or kakiharas tongue scene..) the 'nasty bit' is
gone completely though. The Dutch dvd will be completely uncut, but
the UK one should only be missing that bit... personally I can live
without that scene but I'll probably go for the dutch one anyway,
just cos it'll be the first one out.. There's a near enough complete
list of HK version cuts here www.kfccinema.com/reviews/horror/ichi/ichi.html
at the bottom
Thanks for the info on the anime too, I could
definately use some explanation about the end!
