samara's form...
...that emerges from tv is not tangible. here's why i think it's
not:
the group of high school kids all watch it at the same
time, right? well, then they'd all logically die at the same time,
right? (and they do, the TOD is the same for all of
them)
how, if it's actually samara's 'physical form,' would
she emerge from multiple televisions/mirrors/whatever (lets not get
into the kids in the car) at the same time? i think it's in the
viewer's mind. hence why noah was still in the chair, if you watch,
he was sitting in the chair when he first sees samara's hand come
out of the tv.. as for katie, i dont know.. maybe she crawls into
the closet as she's dying, but noah doesn't move because he's too
weak to get out of the chair? one can only speculate.

Even in the original Ringu, Sadako seems to be an image only seen
by the victim, but in Ring 2 she was depicted as more than that...
then again, the victims are usually isolated from
everyone.
Masami saw Sadako killing her friend, Tomoko, which
drove her crazy.

Yeah i thought it was all in their minds too (referring to remake).
but then how come when rachel entered noahs apartment, everything
was trashed and knocked over?

And, that being so, he must've gotten out of the chair.
Only
Noah could have left those bloody handprints on the floor.
I
agree with the basic theory, though. I think her final, shocking
manifestation is in the mind of the cursed, as has been discussed
earlier. I think if we'd already seen the tape at Katie's moment of
truth, we would have seen Samara, large as life (or even larger!)
standing on the other side of that door. I still don't get the
water, though. What's that about?

Despite my above
comment...
...I actually support this theory. However, it seems to me that
this theory would work much better with Ringu than it would with The
Ring, as in Ringu, victims are only found frozen screaming in fear;
however, in The Ring, not only is there water leaking from
everywhere, but there are also horribly deformed, rotting
bodies.

i think if you try to make sense out of everything in this movie...
then you would go crazy
this couldn't happen in the first place,
so attempting to rationalize it just makes no sense.
but it can
be fun!

Noah
Noah actually sits on the floor in front of the TV. It's sort of
cute because he sits just like Aidan. When Samara gets close to the
screen he begins to backpedal a bit, scrambling to his feet when her
head comes thru. When she sort of "zaps" up to him the first time,
he falls backward, knocking over a shelf and breaking a glass vase.
He is now in a complete panic and crawling away from her, falling
over the riser to the living room and as he crawls, the heels of his
hands come down on broken glass. He is on his back when the camera
zooms on her evil, hateful face and that's the last we see. How he
gets into the chair is anyones guess.

I wonder if Noah would have been able to beat feet and get the hell
out of there faster if he wasn't all freaked out by the ringing
phone....the phone ringing in the background was so creepy-and
haunting when Rachel comes into his apartment, the phone is still
ringing and she slowly closes her cell phone.
I must say
her scream when she sees him is probably one of the most
blood-curdling I've heard. Terror and horror and disgust and fear
and loss and grief all at once.
It also drove home the point
that up until this moment-Rachel really didn't know what she was up
against.

Um, but not only does the
water start coming out of the TV, but Samara also drips water from
her hands, dress and feet.
