scenes re-shot:
What does everyone make of it?
"There was a scene shot in Squim, Wa. that the studio wanted to
change. Also they wanted a tamer version of a scene in the Morgan
House, as well as some inserts. The scenes were shot at Malibou Lake
near L.A. The [buzz] is that the movie is real good and the studio
exec's love it."
Im getting worried. 'Remakes of scenes' to
make Studio Execs happy = Bad?

A tamer version? Looks
like there's something to look forward to on the
DVD...

The quote above is part of an e-mail conversation from someone
involved with the remake. Apparently the re-shoots were consentual
and the inserts were to make the story "flow" better.

But in any case if the American version seems tamer then Japanese
version it is precisely because of what someone else said in that
they really didn't want concerned parents or teachers or bible
salesman to call this movie satanic or such. No mention or
suggestion of demonic origens of Samara in this version of the movie
no siree. Bible saleman were after Pokemon and Harry Potter for
instance. Gee it doesn't take much to tick them.

My Two
Cents
I'm guessing that, in the original version, Richard Morgan's
suicide was far more graphic than what we saw.

That it was. And while on the subject
[CRAZY SPOILERS TO
FOLLOW]
The scene where Anna offs
Samara was insanely graphic. Even with the plastic over her face
Samara wouldn't die, so Anna picks up a rock and bashes her daughter
over and over. There was also supposed to be a shot where she lugs
Samara's body over the lip of the well, and it smacks into the side
of it on the way down.

Sounds
pretty tasty. I suspected that Samara had a nastier surprise coming.
I hope the DVD is packed.

Actually...
That scene sounds pretty sweet.
It would follows with the
whole 'Samara is scary' theme.
I'd like to see it go like
this...
Anna
ie dammit! Samara:You can't kill me I'm EEEEVIL and a
trademark!! Anna:*whaps her with giant rock a couple of
times* Samara: Can't kill me I'-*silent*

Thanks!!
There was a weird sort of animated image on the official site. It
looked like a face behind cloth.
It was probably Samara
struggling against the plastic bag.
