ring official site - what's the deal?
Does anyone know what the site is about at ring-themovie.com? Like you will click on a picture from the top and you click on different words that will take you somewhere else. I dont know what the point is though. Is it like a game? Well then i dont understand it.

Re: ring official?
I don't think it's a game...it just leads you around in circles. Quite a lot of neat things on there though, like snapshots of Samara in Eola, her birth certificate...

Re: ring official?
The "maze" portion of the site was around long before the movie's release, and thus provided people who came there a sneak peek into the story behind The Ring.

And for us Ringworms and Ringgeeks, it offers a deeper insight into the backstory, since we know how the documents figure into the film.

In a way it *is* a game, with certain slides opening up X-Ray pictures made by Samara or clips from the video, although you can easily get to them by going into each one of the different "trailheads"--Mother, Child, Patient, The Tape--and clicking on the crosshatches and numerals that consequently appear on the main page.

I have a map of the maze somewhere with every single slide and path accounted for, sketched out on paper, but it would probably look like gobbledygook to anyone who saw it. Once I reorganize it into something that makes a little more sense, perhaps I'll post it on the net.

Re: ring official?
Its mostly informative, read what the site has to say and it probably will answer some questions about Samara and the Morgans. It will also add some new questions as well, for as old answers are revealed, new questions always seem to arise...

edit: A second to late : /. Milly's is more informative though, so listen to him :)

ring website
on the main page of the official website, there's an xray of a Barbie doll, with some syringes and what look like golf tees. Are they golf tees? They just make me wonder.

Re: ring website

They look like nails to me. In fact, they are probably some variety of horseshoe nails:

I'm still wondering about the syringes. References to medication of Samara or the horses?

Maybe both, but I'm leaning towards Samara being sedated at the institution. At the official web site I looked over the medical records (or pieces of them) and it looked like Samara was sedated a lot.

Re: syringes
sedated alot? Most definately, and with strong sedatives too. They had her pretty much on the same regimen as someone suffering from violent psychotic episodes.

like the donnie darko site
it is simply a companion to the art direction of the film. that's what happens when the producers get some insane web developers involved and say hey make us something cool...

I thought I read on one of the medical notes that Samara was sedated for the good of the staff (paraphrasing here). In other words, I assumed she was kept sedated because (1) she wouldn't sleep, and (2) while she was awake she was broadcasting the same images to the staff she sent to her parents.

Re: She never sleeps.
You can sedate effectively with pills or syrup. Why syringes - those are mostly used for emmergency sedation?

Stuff I gathered fromt he site
Samara’s Bday, 02/08/1970

Also says failed diagnosis, failed Pshychosurgery and to keep her sedated for STAFF’S SAFETY. Goes onto say that possible causes include heavy metal poisoning, and that her parents went "abroad" for the fertility drugs they found to make Samara.

On the deaths in the first film says that they hit a tree while driving. Interesting...

But the BIGGEST thing of all, and the thing that raises the most questions, is we read someone is saddened by the death of Dr. Scott, the doctor that worked on Samara!
