i have a
question!!!!!!!! re: rental cabin tape
Ok, when Rachael was at the cabin, she grabbed a tape but how did
she know that that was THE TAPE? I just dont understand that part.
Can someone explain?

My
opinion
Is that it was either because it was the only unmarked tape or
because it was a matter of psychic projection. SOMETHING urged
Rachel to choose that tape.

She didn't. She just saw this unlabelled tape sitting on the
cabinet with all the other labelled ones. Since the kids kept on
talking about a tape, she just grabbed it thinking that maybe that
was the tape. She didn't know until she actually saw it on TV.

Facts:
1. Rachel did not truly
believe on this hocus pocus thing about a tape that can kill
you.
2. There was one unlabeled tape that stood up.
3. She got
a phone call with a voice whispering...7 days...after watching
it.
Same thing happens on the japanese original. Asakawa sees
a peculiar tape which is unlabeled and assumes. She actually sees
Sadako after watching the tape.

I'm glad that she guessed right and snatched the correct tape the
first time, otherwise the movie would have unecessarily been about
15 minutes longer as she corrected her mistake!

The tape
One other thing about the tape. I think Katie mentions to Becca tha
the guys were trying to tape a football game at the cabin but when
they watched it they saw Samara. Samara 's powers put the images on
the tape when they tried to record something on it as Noah said that
there was no machine code on the tape. Maybe letting Samara out of
the well increases the range of who she can affect as the vcr was
right above the well.
