What exactly
Happened to Becca? Theories? possible spoilers.
Why do you guys think she went mad? finding katie? seeing samara
take out katie? and why was she walking behind that screen thing in
the mental ward? let's throw out some theories. i think she actually
witnessed the kill and was left alive by samara to pass the word
along so to speak.

Re: What exactly

We know she didn't just find the body... she knew far far too
much.
We know she had some kind of link with Samara, was told
something, or was simply "changed"... because she knew how long
becca had.
A lot of this depends on two basic questions...
where was Becca when the initial attack occured (either in the
bathroom still, unlikely since she would have responded to her
calls), or in the room itself (probably on the floor since she
wasn't visible inside). And it's a sure bet that she was on the
scene right after the attack started, with that shriek that Katie
let out.
Then it's all a matter of time. Does it take seconds
to die, minutes... even hours? We know it can't take very long
because Katie's parents were on their way home soon, and Rachel got
to Noah a matter of minutes after he was attacked. Death must only
take seconds to minutes. Then there's the positions of the bodies.
Either Samara MOVED Noah into that chair, or he sat in it. Thing is,
the water was puddled around the chair and nothing was around where
he initially got it (Except blood and glass). Katie was in the
closet.
btw: anyone else notice how the floor in front of
Katie's door (3 days later) was sort of rotted and damaged? Just a
pool of water won't do that to a wood floor - it looked somehow like
it had stained it, been there far longer then it was.

just like in
Ring 2 I believe...
I heard around here that the room divider scene was from Ring
2...interesting. But she obviously saw Samara go back into the TV
atleast. I don't think she saw the eye, because...well I dunno, it
might not effect her, but then I dunno. She obviously saw something
to do with Samara and the TV and Katie turning to Rot.

Re: just like in

I own the trilogy on DVD and i think i can tell you pretty surely
that Becca (if it has any resemblance to the scene in Ring 2 where
Tomoko's friend is directed past an area with a tv) must have been
present when Samara either came out of the TV or climbed back in...
The screen is there simply so she cannot see the TV because she's so
scared of them.
In Ring 2, Tomoko's friend pushes the screen
aside to look at the TV and the image of the well apears on it,
resulting in all the mental patients in the ward going absoutely
psycho. Like in the original, just before the image of the well
disappears you get a quick glimpes of a white arm reaching over the
top.

her friend died
in her house... wouldn't that make u mental?
If that happened to me and I witness my friend die with a face like
that... I would lose it mentally as well.

Like Ring 2, but
not quite
Becca in the psych ward, and the divider, is straight out of Ring
2. But the way it played out is very different. When Becca stops and
the divider keeps going, she is staring at the TV, and she looks
rather pleased. I do not believe she is afraid of the TV at all. It
seems like she does not want to leave the TV, and that may in fact,
be why the divider is there. When she talks to Rachel, she seems to
have a smug, knowing look about her. It seems that Becca has a bond
with Samara, or at least that her fear has given way to respect.
I would like to read the screenplay, because I wonder if the
screenwriter was envisioning it like the way it was in Ring 2, which
the director, who never saw it, chose to directed it differently

Re: Like Ring 2,
but not quite
i really loved that scene in ring 2, but i'm glad they didn't go in
the same direction with it. it would have brought up too many
questions and might have given away too much.
i believe since
she probably saw samara (and not her face) that she was marked by
her.. much like in the way that she 'burned' the images of things
into her mother's mind and the minds of those that see the
video.

If I found her I'd be like: "WTF?!? You've been eating at Taco
Bell, again?"
Errr, ok, j/k
I'd probably scream my ass off, I guess.

I saw the movie again and caught something. Right after Katie does
her 'fake death' thing and they both laugh, the phone rings. Katie
looks all scared and Becca seriously says 'The tape IS real.' (or
something like that) Maybe she sensed something then. Creeped me out
pretty well.

Nah, cuz Katie played it off
like she was joking, but then looked all serious; Becca was simply
thinking out loud

Rebecca
etc.
I'm curious....
Katie's mom was alluding that the death was
mysterious and no-one could explain how a young teen's heart could
have just stopped. However, on seeing her complexion and expression,
it must have been readily apparent to the examiners that cause of
death was a little more than just heart failure.
Also, when
Rachel was visiting Rebecca in the asylum and when Rachel's hand was
turned over by Becky, was there something to be seen in Rachel's
palm?

she had to see SOMETHING come out of the TV... that's why they put
a screen in front of her while she walked by that room in the psycho
ward. she might of well have seen everything... but Samara
couldn't see her because Becca hadn't seen the tape. That's my
theory.

Well nvm then. Its prolly alot to read. There was just a bunch of
people's pov's of what happened at her house. But im wondering, if
the mom said she could see the look on katie's face, wouldnt the mom
be like mental too and not just becca?
