Wasn't The Ring
video from NIN videos?
From the set "Closure", I heard there were images between videos
(ladder, maggots...)
I'm new and I'm sure this was
probably discussed. Sorry if it was.

I think that was purely coincedental. The creators of the
"Samaravid" as we here call it, were part of an effects team with a
studio called Method Productions. They have no affiliation with
Trent Reznor or Nine Inch Nails.
Besides, if it did, than
that would mean Samara curses everyone, then sits around sulking in
her studio, complaining about former producers and playing Doom all
day.

Yeah I noticed that too when I first saw the movie. I thought it
was pure coincidental.

Re: Wasn't The

Like an earlier thread about Dali and Bunuel's "Un Chien Andalou,"
I would think it was not a matter of the Ring video being directly
derived from these sources as much as it bears mere similarities to
them in that they're all short motion pictures with surreal,
disturbing images. The cursed video probably owes a little bit more
to "Un Chien Andalou" (which was made in 1929) than "Closer"
(1994-ish, a year before the novel's release).

Thanks for that Un Chien Andalou link, I've been waiting to see
that movie again for ages! (the first time I sw it I was a little
girl) It seems to not be available on video, and everytime it comes
to a film festival here I"m like broke or something.

To tell you the truth, the cursed tape DID look like a Nine Inch
Nails music video.

That... video... is... INSANE. And delightfully so! I guess now we
know what a silent b&w movie co-produced by a nutty, Spanish
abstract painter looks like. My major reaction? WTF?! Thanks very
much for posting it, though! I got a great download
speed.
