Video equipement
in bathroom
I Just saw The Ring last night. Exellent horror flick and I'm glad
I found this site as it helps to explain the movie in a little more
detail.
I just have 1 question. Was that a heap of professional
video equipement in Richard Morgan's bathroom when he kills himself?
If so what was he doing with all that? Did he make a bunch of copies
of the tape? Was he just obsessed with the video and wanted to find
out more about it?

I think he just started putting it all in the bathroom the second
after Rachel left the first time because he knew that Samara really
would not stop. He was just heading up to kill himself when he found
Rachel watching Samara's interview tape thingy. Of course, thats
just my thoughts on it.

Beacause he was a damn freak....and so was Rachel, for that

i can't recall who said it, but in another thread someone mentioned
that the equipment is very similar to that of which that is used to
electrocute farm animals like horses and cattle.

In addition to the video gear, he hung a pair of stirrups around
his neck. I guess it was symbolic of his life with horses, kind of
like a suicide note.

My goodness, I didn't think you had it in you. But seriously, is it
possible that Samara was tormenting him all those years? I don't
know. He looked pretty normal when Rachel approached him. I don't
think he saw the cursed video, but then maybe Samara kept him alive
on purpose.

I don't know...if it were me, I would have taken the tape with me
and played it someplace else. Trespessig is a good way to get your
ass shot; he let her off easy with hitting her...but then again, she
went there to talk to him again so maybe she was planning on playing
it off if and when he did appear.

take the tape and watch it somewhere? where would she
get a vcr in the damn island other than at richard's house? would
not theft be as bad as tresspassing?
hey, that seems to
answer another questions. Where was richard when rachel came back
and he wasn't there? Maybe he was out of the house stealing people's
vcrs to prevent samara from using one of them for evil. He just
stacked them all in the bathroom and cabooom.

That's true. I always assumed that she rented a room or something
while she was on the island where she could have played it.
