Upon Second
Viewing
I went and saw the remake again with my brother. He, surprisingly,
didn't think it was all that scary. He should did gasp when the hair
appeared in Rachel's hand in the well.
Anyways. The lead-up
to the first viewing of Kate's corpse was far more unpleasant,
because I knew what was coming. I think it was even scarier when I
actually saw the corpse, because I was already so nervous.
I
tried to understand Becca's expression in the psyche ward when she
looked at the TV, but her face was pretty blank. No indication of
what she was thinking.
When the remake first came out, there
was an argument on this board over why there were horses in Samara's
death scene; I got the impression that the horses may not have been
there in reality, that what we saw was sort of a dream from Samara.
She hates the horses, so she imagines them as being a part of her
murder. The feel of the murder scene was very dream like.
I'm
also very certain that when Rachel and Noah picked up Noah from
Ruthie's house, there was someone in the dining room watching them.
Just an outline of a head. Nobody acknowledges it, so I doubt it was
meant to be Ruthie - Rachel would have said goodbye. There was
another person in that house. Samara? I get goosebumps as I write
this.
I remembered too late to look at Samara's fingertips
when she came out of the well; didn't see if her fingernails were
gone.

I wondered about that too; whether Samara's nails were missing when
she came out of the TV. I looked for them the 2nd time I saw the
movie and couldn't tell if they were there or not.
How about
when she grabbed Rachel's arm in the dream sequence? Did anyone
notice if they were gone there?

it looked to me like it was ruthie...because it looked like she was
looking out the window possibly drinking water which we have seen
earlier in the movie (i.e. the visitation scene). just a thought.

Nah
No, it really was just an outline of a head. I really don't believe
it was meant to be Ruthie. As I said, the three adults would have
acknowledged each other.
JyPsy, is your information
official?
If not, I'll just go on believeing it was Samara.
It makess the whole scene a whole lot scarier.
