The Chinese perscription is for a (drink? drug? herb?) that is
supposed to cleanse the body. What people have missed is that this
is exactly what happened-- Anna was purged of all impurities... Or,
another way to put it, gave birth to Samara.

Hey that is just your opnion. Not a totally implausible one in fact
but please don't be mad if I don't agree. Perhaps you are in fact

So you are supposing that Samara is "The impurity" with this
hypothesis?

So, would she also be the
reason why Anna was having all the miscarriages, and if so,
why?

My Idea
This is the way that I see it:
Anna had some medical
abnormality that wasn't allowing her to conceive normally. This
isn't impossible; there is a condition in existance where women will
conceive, but end up miscarrying later on. Sandra Thompson, wife of
American journalist/author Hunter S. Thompson, suffered from this
affliction.
In her desperation, Anna began seeking answers
through alternative medicine. One of these medicines-- the Chinese
perscription that we see in the hospital files-- was supposed to
"cleanse" Anna of all impurities, thereby allowing her to have a
normal pregnancy. Anna took the medicine, and it did cleanse her--
albeit in an indirect way. Rather than purge her system of
impurities via normal means-- which would usually involve excessive
sweating, urination, and diarhea-- Anna instead produced a living
organism that was the embodiment of whatever "poison" existed in her
system. Thus, Samara, the child, is in actuality a physical
embodiment of all that was impure about Anna Morgan.

which would explain the defragmentation of her personality later in
life, since that was a main part of her personality in this theory,
one cannot live without the good and evil in themselves. she killed
samara, because she was in essence killing herself, which she also
did shortly afterwards.
