Samara Is after
us! (well it seemed that way! read on!)
Ok, last saturday my friends and i went on a double date kinda
thing to see the ring. We enjoyed it and were quite shocked by
the movie. as we watched it and were really more creeped and
paranoid of the next thing that would POP out at you at a random
second, than frightened.
fast forward 9 days..... Timm
(one of the friends who saw it with me) and i went to target to pick
up some movies to chill out tonite with. We start heading to the
electronics section, when we notice EVERY TV is only showing static.
we catch our breaths, and stop deadd in our tracks. then he
thankfully says, "its just static, if we see a well, then we run!"
so we look around the video games and then hit the DVD
section.....as we hear the hissing static stop (and notice there is
a tv right in front of us.....) our hearts both skip a beat. we
slowly look at each other, fear in faces, and turn to the screens
which now are completely black, and this time say, as long as there
is no well.............. as we were about to turn away, there was a
high pitched ringing sound, and japanese kanji looking stuff was
flashing across the screen......and then there were these blueish
images of a closeup of an eye, then a face, like in a strobe, more
kanji looking letters, then more flashes, then
lightning.........both of us were too creeped out to move, not
knowing what to think. then the music video started......some new
rage rock or "metallica wanna be" or something band.... we both
breathed a sigh of relief, and laugh nervously...... i just state
"my body was telling me to run, but i was too entranced..." then we
relized it was our overactive imaginations....but it was still
frightening. then i noticed my left foot was in a little bit of
water, i neglected to mention this to timm, (he has a terrible fear
of water) and figured someone spilled something. well thats my
story....my g/f (who is asian) is dressing up as sadako for
halloween and it should be really cool, ill be sure to post pics
here! (my costume might just be "samara/sadakos" handprint on my
arm. showing i am "cursed" hehehe and i will give out video
tapes. anyways, anyone else have things like this happen?

Yes I have a story JsPsy. Yesterday night just after seeing The
Ring I got home and my mom went out for dinner so I had to be in
house all alone at night. I really was very jumpy but the real so
called terror is next day when I wake up, my tv has voices comeing
out of it. This isn't static but the effect is just as scary. The tv
is off yet.. I hear the television program. Well I unplugged tv and
went off school. That is true story. THE END

When i was in the theater watching the movie, i suddenly wondered
what would happen if everyone who saw the movie actually died in 7
days...like it's a nig conspiracy to kill off the american culture
or something...freaked myself right out

Re: Samara is

The night after seeing the remake I was down in my basement room. I
don't have a door so we have a sheet hanging there instead. There's
a nightlight in the hallway and I woke up to see that friggin' light
shining into my room. I was facing the wall at the time and I
mistook the light for my T.V. I nearly crapped myself and (luckily)
I realized that it was the nightlight before I started beating my
head into the wall repeatedly (better that than face that evil lil'
Samara). After that I unplugged my T.V.
If it turns on now,
I'm going to bash away!

If I was in charge of advertising for Dreamworks--I'd buy slot time
around four am, about one hour--on each channel that has paid
programing ads--comedy central, discovery, etc, and I would just
play a staticy scene of the well.
It'd have to be the 4-5am
slots though.

That sounds kind of cruel yet uninteresting. Cruel for those that
scene movie. Uninteresting for those that haven't. Even for those it
was cruel to they'd possibly just find it stupid; no offense to your
idea though

But doesn't all of that paid advertising seem stupid? Personaly,
I'd rather watch a staticy scene of a well than to watch the crap
they place in those slots. :P

My post-Ring
experience
The night I saw the remake, my parents had me record a program off
TV for them before I left, a made-for-tv adaption of 'Lost World.'
Anyways... Saw the film, damn near ran out of the theater 30
minutes into the movie...but I survived and loved it. That night,
I had trouble sleeping...every slight thing made me bolt up and take
a quick glance towards my TV. I swear I kept hearing that subtle
sound effect that plays every now and then throughout the movie
(it's difficult to describe...you hear it when Katie is reaching for
the doorknob, and when Noah is about to encounter Samara...sort of
an ominous, almost-hissing sound that changes pitch). So I make
it through the night, wake up to find my parents are gone. I look
below the counter, and find...a puddle of water (oh boy...). When I
took a second glance, however, I realised my cat had knocked over
his water dish. *phew* After heating up some breakfast, I decide
to check on the tape and make certain it recorded without any
hitches (my parents are very set in their video ways). I pop it in,
turn on the TV, and rewind it. When it begins playing, I get...black
screen. Then a few seconds later, I get some static flashes. Then
black screen for a few seconds. Then I get a few flashes of random,
distorted images, and then I get static. By now, I'm completely on
edge. Suddenly, guess what I see? Images of the well, and Samara
popping out of it. Then the phone begins ringing. Well, the tape
hadn't been rewound all the way to the beginning, and then I learn
that it began recording during the tail end of a Ring commercial. I
pick up the phone, and it's my parents. *phew* No bodies in the
closet. This movie is still messing with my head. You know a
movie is good when it can do that weeks after you've seen it ^_^

Re: My post-Ring

I remember I rented some horror films after watching the remake. I
am a paranoid bastard but nothing strange happen so I was watching
my films without a problem. I finished my films and switched to the
TV. I was horrified to see the well and stuff from the ring and then
static. I almost crapped by pants until I found out it was a
commercial. After that I went into my room to sleep and had my light
on dim. I look at the black tube of my TV only to see Samara
standing there. I freaked out and turned on the light only to figure
out it was a reflection of my fan. Argh!
I also was watching
the cursed tape from the remake on my computer and after the tape
ended the phone rang! Damn that movie.

Re: My post-Ring

One of my friends called my cell phone right after the movie ended
- he was in a different movie that ended first, so he stuck around
to wait till mine ended. Too bad I had his name and number stored,
so it ruined the effect when caller ID says "Dan Cell Phone"
As for why it sticks around and makes people exceptionally
paranoid - how many of you noticed the subliminal stuff?
Like the hissing noise, the random flashes of the cursed video
images? (I noticed one of the well, and one of the ring very
prominently)
I think if you consciously saw the images and
stuff, it has less of a lasting freak-out effect... I still love it
I just ordered the Japanese trilogy on eBay.

My post-Ring
experience
I had a freaky experience on the day I went to see the ring. One of
the events took place before I actually went to see the movie. I was
in school (its my 4th year in High School. Is in 12th grade for the
second time..) and I do not have a 7th period class. So I usually
just sit in the hallway by the doors, and listen to my cd player. I
had put brand new batteries in it and was listening to my burned cd
of a collection of Final Fantasy vocal songs. In the middle of Love
will grow, it suddenly stopped. I pushed play again thinking that it
was just being difficult, but this time the sound didnt come on. I
then thought it was the cd, and switched it with some techno music.
The sound didnt start on that either, when I was about to turn off
the cd player, a very loud staticy noise started going through my
head phones. I took out the batteries and put them back in, and then
the music was ok again.
After the movie, I was freaking out.
It turned out to be alot scarier than I had anticpated, so my mind
was going through a complete mind f#$*. I came home and just laid
down in almost a complete shock. Besides having my boyfriend scare
the crap out of me so bad that I wouldnt go into dark places, or
sleep with the light off, I was in the front room preparing to play
some video games, hopefully to take my mind off the movie a little
since I wasnt going to sleep anyways and my boyfriend left. At first
I was reluctent, but I kept telling myself that she wouldnt come out
to get me. I have a switcher to switch through the channels to use
my DVD Player, Xbox, PS2, and my TV. Well I was about to play some
Grand theft Auto Vice City, when suddenly the screen got all
staticy. I freaked out. I must have bumped into the switcher, but at
the time I didnt really care what the cause was. Then I remembered
my cd player that had made the static like sound
earlier.
Later I decided that I was going to try to go to
bed, and I kept seeing things out of the shadows of my posters. That
movie did a job on me, but it was worth it. Im going to go see it
again, but my boyfriend is afraid I may snap. lol

Re: My post-Ring

Most of this stuff is just your imagine runnin away from you. You
see static on a TV now and automatically you think of the ring (well
i do anyway lol). Then you remember the images from the movie and
you think of them so much that you actually compare them to things
in real life. Maybe thats why all of you had weird things happen to
you that resemble the movie. Well that's my theory anyway.

Re: My post-Ring

Thats probably true, but I still say that the movie was well worth
all of the trauma. I mean come on, some of the stuff in the movies
is not easily forgetful.
