Well, I'm not sure mr Marz, I have never been dead before. And,
Helmut, your "deutsch" more than just sucks. Good think there
weren't any "deutsch" speakers on the board.

some
explaining
some thoughts I wanted to turn into words:
- I was real
happy to make some of you believe in Jurgen. The idea came to me
somewhere around day three, when I was a little too deep in
describing Prossland (sic) as a
witch/communist/necromancers/nazi/unreal country. It was all just a
matter of timing.
- Kame, I loved your support - the Sadako
with box'o'chocolates thing was so @#%$ hilarious, I just couldn't
get myself to continue the story. Also, Helmut suggests that you
seemed to 'dig' it, but modesty doesn't let me believe him. (and my
English is rather bad, by the way)
- I would also like to
thank AngryVortex. I could sense a tongue-in-cheek attitude, but you
being worried helped to add some realism to the story.
- Some
of you may not know (because Day 0 was in some other post), that
both Konerka and Marz didn't experience those things because they
saw the movie. They saw the cursed tape itself.
- What was up
with Inteferon ? I thought he was the only person who was actually
reading this, and then he suddenly disappeared. Strange.
- As
a side note - I was writing all of it in real time, usually not
knowing myself what will happen next. My inspiration came from the
fact that I indeed saw the cursed (promo) tape. One week ago. At
midnight. But I'm alive.
[and here comes my trademark,
thought provoking last line]
Or am I ... ?
[that was
self irony, of course - i do not intend to create one hundred
personalities to keep the story going
]

i AM dead
Marz is killed by either Sadko or the pills. Or the flu
itself.
Konerka was just denied further
existence.

Well, 'Bob' - seemed like you weren't keen on me running

Umm, I didn't mind you interfering, but you dwelled too deep into
geography. Still though, you made the story seem really interactive.
Thanks anyway !

I was trying to give you a hint to re-locate to a real country. It
would have been a more effective tale if people weren't getting
caught up wondering about what planet you're from instead of the
matter at hand. Cardinal rule of good writing (if I remember the
class material) is write what you know about. Unless you're Ray
Bradbury, heh.

Dear Samara "Sadako's slave" Morgan. I'm honored that you visited
"Seven Days of Robert Konerka' thread and had thrown a few pennies
to the story. I spoke with Jurgen a short while before his
unfortunate demise. He told me, that he is sure it's Sadako who will
take him. "Why ?" I asked him, suprised by his knowledge. "Because
she finds me cute. She even gave me some choclolates in a
heart-shaped box."
I'm sure they are happy together now ...
Somewhere over the rainbow ...
Of course, you
shouldn't forget about your Korean counterpart. You know, the
hot/shower-scene/male-genitalia Sadako. She was very jealous about
Jurgen. Though she seems to get along with Bob. Well, you see, we
have this one, big happy family here. Come visit us on christmas -
we will have one seat ready.

Actually, I live in a post-communist, formerly pagan, central
Europe country called Poland. And we had Ring here before Uk and the
rest of Europe. And at the same time, there is japanesse Ring
playing in some cinemas. Only lie was about cinempatography. Because
polish movies usually suck. And that's why I taken it upon myself to
be a director. And one that makes cinema what it should be -
entertainment. Because everyone wants movies to be so artsy, and
artsy movies are good only, when they are done good. Donnie Darko,
Vanilla Sky - those movies aren't pretentious. And Ring is merely a
popcorn flick (in it's american release). But those movies give you
genuine emotions. Even Spidey - exciting, good looking, funny. A
popcorn flick. But a good one. It will stay in people minds much
longer than Worm's Bowels: Dictionography of a Modern Man.
"This movie was boring and made no sense"
"You just
didn't get it ! It's real art"

thinking man's
cinema
By the way - maybe it's not the right place to discuss it, baut as
a cinema lover i just wanted to share with you a certain
thought.
Have you ever noticed how those mind-@#%$ movies
like Vanilla Sky, Darko, Jacob's Ladder or Thirteen Floor just
didnn't seem to do well during their theathrical runs in US. It's
like the only person allowed to do piece-it-yourself movies is David
Lynch.
It's strange, because Abre los Ojos for example was a
smash hit in Spain (and i mean a SMASH HIT). It even had some cult
following in States. But Vanilla was such a failure.
Maybe it
has something to do with the marketing. Nobody knew what Vanilla Sky
was from the trailers, but the trailer itself was top-notch, so it
probably had something to with genreless-nes of this movie. Darko
seemed to be some straight-2-video teen thriller @#%$ (and the DVD
said, heh, "in the traditions of Stir of Echoes and Final
Destination") in the ads. Thirteen Floor didn't have any advertising
at all, and i'm afraid taht when Jacob came out, it was just too
early for such movies.
Look at 6th sense. It was said to be
just "da best horror movie ever". And people dug it. I think it was
much more than that, a multi-layered psychological movie. But no,
the marketing guys said, "it's the best horror ever" and it selled.
What do you think ?

Re: thinking

I like all kinds of movies, and I have tolerance for even the worst
movies (that are so bad that they're good). But I gotta tell you,
Vanilla Sky was singularly the biggest piece of sh!t that I ever
saw. I always sit through a movie to the bitter end - even though it
may be bad - because something redeeming may happen. In the case of
this movie, it's the first time in my life that I was flicking my
lighter to check my watch every five minutes past half way mark. And
it didn't get any better. Is this another one of your games?

oh thanks
Thanks for reminding me of another such movie - Fincher's The Game.
It wasn't too much of a succes too, was it ? But Fight Club did
well, and that's a good sign.

I thought Fight Club was excellent. I'd be happy to discuss movies
with any one who's interested, but unless it's got something to do
with The Ring, we should move these conversations to the Open Topic
forum.

Re: oh

Well just like to say, great job with the fanfic/short story. Took
me a while to piece together what happened because I've been gone
for 3 days (although I did wonder what happened to "Robert" while I
was viewing the movie the second time!)
And didn't Fincher
follow up Fight Club (which was great, all though Pahlaniuk's book
"Invisible Monsters" was better IMHO) with Panic Room which was
midly entertaining but mostly dull?
PS: Reason I never
really wanted to see Vanilla Sky was because it just didn't look
very interesting to me. And also, after I learned about it, it just
seemed to much like The Matrix to me, and you know, I hate The
Matrix.
PPS: What do you think of Stanislaw Lem since Solaris
(based on the Russian movie more than the book) is out in the US?

Sorry I couldn't answer - I was (and technically still am) very
busy lately.
I'll be visitng this new thread now, if you
still want to discuss movies (other than Ring).
Oh and Kame,
do you want to work on my story yourself, or should i rewrite it and
send straight to J. ?
