Ring's Screen
Savers
Has anyone checked out the Ring's screen savers from the movie's
web site? It is pettey well done. I like the one with the static
screen along with the sound effect.
Be forwarned tho, the
two screen savers have spy wares on them 
, but you can block them by using zone alarm.

Im using or now WAS using the one with the logo that glows. Where
the hell did you get the spyware info? F this, Im gonna use the
Battle Royale one I founded last week. That is a low blow to include
spyware in a freakin screen saver.

Spy-ware
I can tell because right after I installed the screen saver my Zone
Alarm flashed a warning telling me that the screen saver wants to
access the internet. Why would a screen saver wants to access the
net for? That is, to send infos about me

This is messed up.
We finally get a nice Ring themed screen saver and it has spyware on

guys
Okay, it does access the internet, but are you 100 percent it is a
spyware connection or perhaps it is used to connect you to the Ring
website. Check the settings for your screensaver and you will notice
that there is a radio button that will launch you to the website
from the screensaver settings menu. Now in addition to that, I can't
honestly say they have plans in mind to update these screensavers
now that the movie is practically upon us, but I did notice it is
using the ScreenTime system which is what Disney Interactive is
using for their Tron 2.0 screensaver, which intern requires an
internet connection so that it can update itself in synchronicity
with the website when they so choose. Lets not get too paranoid.

But are you sure while the ScreenTime system is updating the screen
saver it is not also sending infos about you? Anyway it would be
helpful if they would disclose the fact that the screen saver will
be updating itself via the internet.

I can't vouch for ScreenTime, their intent to deliver dynamic
screensaver content seems well meant but, I don't know them
personally so all I can do is suggest you check their site out and
perhaps bounce some questions off of them. They are at...

Ring...Mrgazpacho/Chris is right. There is NO way I am going to put
anything with Sadako or Samara on my screen. Hells no. Now the idea
for putting it on your ex's comp has merit. I wish my ex was scared
of things like that.

Right now I've got the grainy colour shot of Sadako walking from
the well to the tv screen as my background image. I also have the
static/video screensaver from the official site. I would love to
have a screensaver of her walking from the well to the screen. Who
knows - perhaps one day I'll come home and find her sitting on my
bed...

Screen Savers
Spyware is the devil's tool for spying on your computer. Once
installed, it can report back system information, what kind of mp3's
and music tastes you have, etc to the interested party. The
possibilities are endless. Spyware has many applications and is used
in advertising and as far as I am concerned they are all less than
honorable. Run Adaware. It will detect all the spyware currently
installed in your system and you have an option to remove each one
or all at the same time.
