But I will say that I seriously doubt Samara couldn't be taken down by the 1984 Ghostbusters. I mean they challenged a divine being for crying out loud! Gozer (an ancient Sumerian god) and countless ghosts running amok practically threw New York into total chaos. The entire city! Vigo (16th century villain) tries to be reborn via an attempt to possess an 8 month old baby. I think it's safe to say two things: 1) the Ghostbusters have faced supernatural enemies with powers and experience far beyond Samara's and 2) yes, I do exhibit geek tendencies from time to time.

Clark/Superman has a completely different brain thing or a super strong one that samara couldnt affect. And he wouldnt get hurt by fire since he can start it or bleed from his nose, since he can't bleed. Here is a scenario. Samara pops out of a TV and gives Superman the eye, so since eye contact is probably a must, superman burns her eyes out. Boo yah. They made Batman fight them in rainforest, and done other things like that. I shudder thinking what connection could they possibly find between Sam and Supes. Is that why in the "student film" there was a scene with a mirror, but no camera reflected back (like Noah pointed out?) Is that why Katie wrote "mirror" a million times in her notebook?

We know he is wrong, but his comment serves to make the audience aware of point of view. WIth this in mind, we see an "empty" mirror, and we also see a hazy Samara backing away from a straight on shot of the mirror. Like someone else said, it's like we're on the other side of the mirror looking out, either at Samara, or nothing. Now that I've established that either Samara or no one is looking into the mirror, and since we both agree that we are seeing images vis a vis Samara's mind, I would like to posit the idea that Samara has an aversion to mirrors. To this end, I will ask again: If Samara looks at herself in a mirror, will she die? I didn't want to write a thesis.

Another flaw I see in Dr. Scott's theory on the mirror is that we see Anna on OUR side of the mirror brushing her hair. Since these are memories of the past or visions of the future or emotional impulses I doubt Anna would be on the "inside" of the mirror unless... It COULD be that since Anna's wearing that suicide dress that she's brushing her hair after she's dead and that the inside of the mirror is the spirit world where Samara resides. Reflective surfaces in many mythologies are metaphors for gateways to the afterlife but I think that if anything, Sam could use the mirrors like Belldandy in the Oh! My Goddess series and transport through them. But if the otherside of the mirror is like the afterlife there is no evidence to indicate she did anything other than pass on the way most souls do so that in the scene on the tape that she's a living person on the outside of the mirror. Sorry if this is offensive I can be abrasive too sometimes :/ I do no believe she will die if she looks into a mirror. I still fail to see why you would think she has an aversion to it just by her backing away.

Perhaps you are asking whether ghoul Samara would self-destruct if she saw her reflection? Don't know for sure, but I suspect not - just like snakes are immune to their own venom.

In addition, although many will claim otherwise, swear words draw attention well, and as long as the swearing is not excessive, the caught attentionees will read the remainder of the paper, thus gaining new wisdom.
