If you could make your own cursed tape, what would it be like? What
visuals would it have? What sounds? How long would it last? How

I was thinking about doing some kind of
flash animation version of the video...
i am also very
interested in filming one.... i only have a digital cam though.
Dirty, scratchy, low res filmyness is amazing. reminds me of
shadowman.
if i come up with anything good , i'll post it

that sadakoisdead.com movie is (and i'm explaining this AGAIN) made
by dreamworks. sadakoisdead.com is a dreamworks site, and everything
contained therein is NOT fan made (although it may look like it ;p
)
and you should WARN PEOPLE about the content of the movie
when you run around flinging out links. i've had the scene described
to me, and i know it's hideously fake-looking, but i'll eat a monkey
before anyone ever makes me watch it. it's a damn good thing i
recognized the file name -_-

My friend and I are going to make a movie. Maybe he's got some
ideas about a cursed video of sorts. I'll talk to him and tell you
his ideas. Mine...
A shot of a window, looking out into an
open field, with only one Tree.
Then, it has a freaky segue,
i don't know how freaky it would be, but it would be freaky.
To a video camera, looking straight at you, pointed, with a
little red light on.
And somehow, later on in the tape, it
shows YOU watching the tape with the magical tape camera.
If
they did that in an actual movie and then projected the actual
audience onto the big screen, it would be HELLA TIGHT.

Er... sorry, I'm too scared to download either of the videos linked
here.. ^_^;
But I was thinking of making a cursed video (or
rather, *if* I could make my own... I don't think I could, unless it
was animated or something). And I was wondering about the use of
color. I've only seen the Japanese cursed video once, so I can't
remember if there was color... but Samara's video was black and
white, right? Do you think having a video in color would take away
from it's "creepiness"? Would it be the same if it wasn't so grainy?
What about sound? Sound usually helps.. but sometimes
silence can work well too. However, in Samara's case... I found that
weird... high-pitched sound well disconcerting, and found it easier
to watch the visuals with the volume turned down. *shudders at the
scary noises from the whole movie*

Either back and white, or duotone. And creepy
background noises like doors screeching, or someone scraping
something.
My momvie would be a never-ending sequence of
doors. You go through one, pass through the room, go to the other
door at the end, and so on and so on, faster and faster, and the
rooms would get more and more bizarre and smaller. Like in one, a
stairwell that goes nowhere, windows set into the ground, etc. And
maybe in the first room thei thing will start out in color, but as
time goes on and more rooms get passed, you'll notice that all color
has leeched out of the picture, leaving that nasty grayish blue they
used for that shot of the well...

Not to worry AFKC (too long!) the movie Remote Control is only
rememberable in B-movie fan circles. It was pretty laughable.
Imagine, an alien plot to take over our society with of all
things........videotapes. That is rignt, sorta a SciFi psuedo Ring
style thing goin on. It like the 80's is fairly cheezy in relation
to today's standards but if you don't mind that, check it out.

my cursed
tape
my cursed tape would be (SPOILER it gets bloody):
no image
at all at first ... you hear muted sounds of radio static with what
might be voices drifting in and out of it, as if someome's trying to
tune in some far away country on a shortwave radio ... for some
reason, it sounds vaguely menacing, but you can't figure out why
...
suddenly there is a sepiatone, shadowy, grainy image,
flickering like an old silent film, of a little girl in a nightgown
kneeling on the floor with her cheek and her hand pressed to an old
wooden door ... she's not crying, but there's something tragic in
her pose ... you can barely see her eyes but they stare vacantly
into space ...
at the end of the above scene, the radio
static is turned to full volume without warning, and then
stops.
the image disappears quickly and is replaced by
blackness ... after the sudden silence, you hear a sound that you
recognize as what you hear when you're trying to sleep in a silent
room, the sounds inside your own head ... this sound begins to cycle
on and on as ...
the next shot (all the scenes on this tape
are sepiatone, grainy, and flickering) is of a girl floating 3 feet
above a bed. she lies in repose as if in a coffin, hands folded
neatly ... she looks peaceful, her eyes are closed. after about 20
seconds, her head begins to swivel towards you as ...
abrupt
cut to what looks like an upper arm ... a razor slices into the skin
just enough to create a bit of blood, but not very deep. there's no
hand holding the razor blade, but it moves as if a hand is guiding
it. it begins to speed up and you watch as hundreds of cuts are
quickly made from the inside of the elbow upwards, the blood
starting to rain in a thin sheet over the curve of the arm ... in
the background, you hear the sound of children weeping pitifully
beginning to gain in volume, they sound completely heartbroken and
in pain ...
blackness and sudden silence again.
a
willow tree. the shot starts high up in the branches, down, down,
and then outwards until it passes the young girl, still in her
nightgown, and barefoot ... you see her standing looking up into the
tree holding a long jump rope ... you hear a plaintive, soft little
girl's voice singing an old folksong: "hang down your head Tom
Dooley, hang down your head and cry, hang down your head Tom Dooley,
poor boy you're going to die" ...
the song fades to silence
as the little girl begins to wrap the jump rope around her neck
once, twice, three times, as she slowly walks towards the
tree.
a view from the top of a stairway ... it looks as if it
leads into a dark basement ... at the bottom of the stairs, there's
a doorway that's got a shower curtain hanging in it ... after about
10 seconds you see the curtain begin to move, what looks like a
man's fingers are curling around the edge of the curtain
...
screaming! the high-pitched wail of a child, multiplied
and echoing so that you can't tell how many children are screaming
and crying ... very loud! your view rushes down the stairs towards
the curtain like a rollercoaster that's crested the big hill ...
before you reach the curtain which is now slowly opening into the
darkness beyond, blessedly you are returned to blackness and the
sound of radio static again, filled with vaguely menacing voices and
sounds.
images flash in and out of the blackness: a sideways
shot of a sawdust-covered floor ... a vise-grip mounted on the
corner of an old wooden table ... the silhouette of a man in a
window at the end of a long dark room ... a stained-glass ceiling
lamp seen from below in a darkened room, you see only one point of
light is reflected in the glass, and it looks like a door opening
...
the radio static becomes louder as you also hear a
heartbeat, loud yet muffled, slow but steadily increasing in rate,
all the noise building to a fever-pitch as that point of light that
looks like a door opening seems to be getting bigger and bigger, or
perhaps closer and closer ...
suddenly the sound stops and so
does the image. blackness. silence ... you see the little girl
staring into a mirror, staring right at you, for only a second, just
long enough to realize her eyes are entirely black ... then you see
a tile floor with what looks like blood dripping slowly, drops the
size of a dime ... drop, drop ... drop.
the video ends. you
reach to turn it off, and in silence the scene of the little girl
with her face pressed to the old wooden door pops back on the screen
... she turns her face towards you, and slowly says "it's ok, i'm
already dead. you didn't stop him." she turns her face sadly and
resolutely back to the door, resuming what seems to be a vigil. fade
to black.
and now the tape really
ends.

HmK: That sound sounds pretty cool, enhance it though. Hopefully
you have some kind of audio tool that will let you manipulate and
cut and past stuff into an audio file. Use that and your imagination
and just gooooooooo .... you are on a good track. I'm thinkiing you
could break that up a bit. Add some soft voices/whispers maybe
slowed or pitch shifted perhaps even reversed. Use some cool but
slooooooow sounds to create another layer within the audio perhaps.
THis is all my opinon, hope you don't get offended, its just that is
a great base sound. You probably thought of all the things I just
said anywho.

hmmm ... "inside your head" sounds are kind of a whoosh-y, watery
heartbeat sound. so i'd have to edit a heartbeat and water
together.

About the
sound...
It's not mine; it's from some Aphex Twin song. If you run that wav
through Spectrogram, you will actually see a demonic face. Search on
Google for "Aphex face" and you'll see what I mean.
I tried
digitizing a pic of Sadako's eye like that, but it didn't turn out
very good.

Noo, it wouldn't
kill...
I think it would just make you realize that both you (the viewer)
and deadgirl are losers.
I know that ghosts have to follow
rules - she can't just come out and say where she died & who
killed her. but NiceishDeadGirl didn't give you enough clues to
avenge her.
You're just a loser becuase you can't help a nice
ghost.
Hell, it's not even as if you have to really work
hard to help a ghost take vengance. They do most of the work - see
Del Toro's "Devil's Backbone" for a good example (and a beautiful
ghost!)

(It's not cursed, but it's pretty freaky. This is based on an old
story I made up years ago.)
The type starts and you see an
orange background. Just then, bubbles appear.
The scene changes
and there are five dark figures standing next to a huge tank with
orange liqud. You can hear their voices.
"I can't believe
it..."
"She's full grown and still alive!"
"The Katana
project is a success! We made our first human/demon
clone!"
The scene changes and you see the tank. Inside it, is
a full grown naked woman, sleeping in a fetal postion. A hand is
pressed against the glass. But the hand isn't human, it's green and
scaly.
The figures in the type are really aliens!
You than see
a computer diary from one of the aliens
"We found a brand new
discovery on Mars! We have found the skeletal remains of the
legendary demon, Katana..."
"My colleagues alter the DNA with
the DNA of a human so it will be more stronger..."
"Kara
(Clone #1) will be our deadly bio weapon to use on
Earth..."
Suddenly, the whole scene is covered by a white
flash. The lab is on fire. Blood spattered on the wall and floor and
machines being ripped apart by an unknown force. You can hear the
screaming from the scienists. Then, you can see a figure coming out
from the flames. It's the woman from the tank, floating five feet
above the ground, watching the chaos. She looks up to you with her
white, lifeless eyes and the movie stops...

Well...
It shouldn't be too hard to make one in the vein of the Samaravid.
It looked like a demented art school film, and if I look hard
enough, I can find enough shots and objects that can be considered
disturbing.
Oh, someone made a 'cursed video'. It's on a
gaming forum that I visit regularly, and you may be able to get it
better if you play King of Fighters.

There is a real place like that called, "The Winchester
Mystery House" There are doors to NO WHERE....A staircase that leads
to the ceiling. And hidden traps. The reason the builder did it is
because she belived that when she invented the Winchester rifle, the
spirits killed by it lived in her house. The weird doors and stairs
and stuff were built to "Confuse the spirits."

ecrazy55, The legend I heard about Winchester Mansion is that is a
cursed house. The reason why Winchester had to build continuously is
to ward off a curse placed on her by a family member whose chkld was
killed by a person using a Winchester rifle. Supposedly the curse
stated that all sorts of unfortunate things would happen to them if
they did not remember each person killed by one of their guns by
adding on to the house. You are right about the additions that do
nothing.
