Just came back
from the ring - in Australia
Hey everybody just attended an advance screening of the Ring in
Australia and it was very good indeed. Alot of younger people were
there and came out going huh? i didnt get what the hell that was
about but then there were people like me who loved it. One thing i
want to know is I heard somebody say you hear samara recite a poem
or something about being in the well but there was nothing like that
there :-/ oh wells great movie I'd give it a solid 8/10

Heh, I had a similar
experience when I watched it with a full audience. A lot of the
younger viewers were confused by the ending and I heard many
comments like "Whaaa? ... That was stooopid . . . It's about
copies?"
Of course most of those little fuckers were busy
talking or playing with their cell phones, kicking each other's
chairs, and giggling when another teenager would walk by them. I
lost count of how many older people kept telling them to shut the
hell up. The only good thing was the sadistic pleasure I got when
they were screaming during different scenes. Hah it got so bad for
them they were even screaming when there wasn't anything scary on
screen. I was laughing so hard at them during the last 30 minutes of
the movie

Just came back
from the ring
When I went to see the ring my first time, I was dissapointed to
see so many little kids there. At first it really didnt bother me
cause its not like I was there parents. But when it got to the scary
parts, some not even scary, they would scream. I was watching the
movie in a sold out show. The theater was full and I was lucky to
get a seat cuz people were sitting on the floor. There was also this
one group of about 12 early teenage girls who also would not shut up
during the film. People had to tell them when the scary parts where
over just so they would stop screaming. The best part was when
Samara came out of the tv. Alot of people screamed even adults. I
think I would have enjoyed it a bit more if it wasnt as crowded, but
thats just me.

Yes, that happened to me in my second viewing of the Ring. These
punk teens wouldn't shut up at the front of the theater AND the
right side of the theater. Me and other people told both the groups
to SHUT UP, but they kept talking, giggling, and yelling out
predictions for the movie. That behavior reall pisses me of, but
what are you supposed to do? Threaten their pets? Or use physical
force?

Re: Just came

Those teenagers were most likely scared. Talking and laughing kept
them from really absorbing the movie. It doesn't make sense to pay 9
buck to see am voie only to avoid looking at it and annoying
everyone else. When saw the preview screening, a women in front
of me just couldn't take it. That shot of Katie in the closet really
spooked her. For the rest of the movie she turned her head at every
scary scene. When Samara came out of the tv, she said "Oh no, Oh no,
Oh my god" and turned her face into her friends shoulder. She kept
whispering "Is it over? Is it over?" I noticed quite a few heads
turing in the audience. Heh, very entertaining. Has there been
any reports or article about how the Ring is effecting people? It
seems to be quite a phenomenon.

She doesn't recite a poem, she
sings a little creepy song while she's standing over the well. Its
in the flashback, right before her mom puts the plastic bag over her
head. Its rather quiet and possibly easy to miss. Although, maybe
they just cut it out of the Australian version.

I too went and saw an advanced screening of the Ring in oz last
night
Possibly the scariest movie i have ever seen. I was
nearly in tears i was so freaked out when she came out of the tv.
packed cinema, no abundance of young people though,
depending on what you consider young. cos i'm 20 and i reckon thats
pretty young.
when i got home, it took me over 15mins to get
the courage to get out of my car and walk to the house. And i swear,
i never want to see a well on my tv, ever. *shudders*

you
know...
I was actually a little piqued at the studios for not outright
requesting an R rating. I know its not in their best interests
financially, but I think its their responsibility to at least give
parents a real warning when it comes to this film. Back in the day
(hah, I feel like a codger now) you knew that PG-13, while possibly
being a bit risque, was generally safe for youngsters... after
seeing the face of a young girl (who had watched with her father, no
less) while leaving, this definatley isnt safe.

Well hear its Restricted (MA rating like your R) so if your under
15 you must go with an adult which I think is quite a good idea.

Re: you

I originally wasn't going to see this movie because, based on the
trailer, I figured it was another dumbass feardotcom-type slasher
pic. However, my father took my nine year old son to see it and,
needless to say, my kid was majorly creeped out. I thought I'd
better check out just what he saw and here I am creeped out too and
mad as hell at the old codger. I'll be sending all the therapist
bills to you-know-who.

Re: you

i never saw any trailers before the film...and I have to say, after
watching the trailer, it doesn't do the movie any justice
whatsoever. but most scarey movie trailers don't i spose.
I
think an R rating would have fit the film nicely for scare content,
but for gore etc there is nothing really.
and i like to think
that there are a lot of "i'm so tuff" 15 years olds out there who
think nothing could freak them out are shitting themselves at the
though of someone crawling out their tv screen

Re: you

9 year old son huh?
When I saw the movie for the first time,
there was a family with a small child sitting behind me. He couldn't
have been older then 8, but he looked more like 6-7 years. WHO
brings a kid that young to see a horror film? The child wasn't even
phased by the movie though. Most kids I know would have been
hysterical, but you heard little small voiced comments like "Mommie
its the 7th day?" and "Why is she doing that?"
I'm 20 years
old and I was crapping my pants.
Oh and I missed the ENTIRE
ending the first time I saw it because I had to leave the theater to
meet someone outside and they took forever. When my boyfriend and
our friends came out, he told me that if I thought the movie freaked
me out, wait until I saw the ending. So I saw it again and didn't
sleep for a few nights. I want to go a 3rd time, but have refrained
from the fear I won't be able to sleep AGAIN!
