Interesting
Question
Hello all! I was just talking about The Ring with my friend today,
and he brought up an interesting fact.
#1. When the "woman"
come out of the TV, she is a full grown woman, not a little
girl.
#2. What happened the Samara's real mother? She died
mysteriously...this ties into #3
#3. Why do they show Samara
by the well as SOON as she gets out of rehab?
My conclusion:
The person comming out of the TV is not Samara, but in fact her real
mother, who was also thrown into the well.
PLZ tell me what
you think '

you're a bit
off
1) if you go by the japanese version (and I'm sure the sequal will
settle this), she is in the well for about 30 years alive.
it
wasnt the bad sadako in the well, but that's told in ring0, so I
dont think that applies.
however, if she didnt live for
30yrs, then it was her soul that lived that long, thus projecting
what her adult self looks like.
2) her real mother killed
herself because she couldnt live without her child, the child she so
loved and wanted many times (and gdamnit, she tried
alot!)!!!!
3) samara was psychic, I'm sure she probably knew
she was going to die... though the question is why she let it
happen...
*) no, it wasnt her mother coming out of the tv, it
was in fact samara, her mother didnt have that rage and ambition to
kill.

no.... her mother kill'd
herself because of guilt... or maybe because the horses were still
drow'n themselvs and there still wasnt fish and ect... she thought
everythign would get better once she killed Samara... but it wasnt..
so she killed herself...

She killed her

I like the theory that Anna killed herself because of guilt, but
I'm still leaning on the idea that her hallucinations and other
problems got MUCH much words after Anna killed her.. Leading to her
swan dive. I dunno, maybe a combo of both. Anyone else have any
thoughts on this?

well i think it was a combo of guilt... she thoguht things would
get better.. she even said that to Samara before she push'd her in
.. and they didnt.. so the stress of that...and that the visions
didnt stop.. the horses were still drown'n themselv's.. and so
forth...
what i dont understand is that the horses got better
after Anna killed herself.. why?

yeah...
I mean guilt... she thought she "had" to kill her to end the evil,
and dispite that, she did love her and it would have been very
difficult to have done that.

Hmm.. I was led to believe that Anna killed herself the same day
that she killed Samara (Same clothes...?). But, if there was a space
between the time of Samara's death and Anna's swan dive, perhaps
Samara still had her imprint on Anna, much like how Samara had her
imprint on Rachel to terrify the horse on the ferry. And thus
resulted in reoccurence of the horses drownings, and when Anna died,
the remaining horses returned to normal.

News of
Samara?
The only thing I don't understand is why there were no
investigations, no newspaper articles or anything of the sort which
would imply that anyone looked for Samara. People knew she exsisted
didn't they? Did they ever wonder where she went? Come to think of
it the doctor did think she was still in the mental ward... but
didn't anyone else notice the Morgan child was gone?

Re: News of

Anna leans over the well and looks down after she pushes Samara in
... i wonder if Samara's energy was already able to manifest itself
and push itself upward (as in the way she made the first tapes?). or
if she had already imprinted so much of herself on her mother that
her mother was driven to suicide by continuing visions?
i
notice on the "newspaper stories" on the movie sites that in Anna's
obituary, there's no mention of her having a child. obituaries
usually mention something like "mother of" or if other relatives
have died recently. that says to me that the whole community didn't
really care how or why she was gone, just that she was
gone.

if memory serves
me right...
"why there were no investigations"
this was because the town
was plagued and terrified of the girl! everything was going wrong,
crops were dieing, horses going crazy, ect... but not just for the
morgans, for the whole town! even one of the ladies eluded that
everyone wanted her dead.
that the case, I'm sure they
wouldnt investigate further...

Nope. Personally, I
still credit that to Verbinski's use of camera angles, to not make
Samara look dwarfed by Noah. Plus, Daveigh Chase (whom the press has
said had to don the Rob Zombie makeup for the scene) isn't as tiny
as she seems...the photos in the premiere have her practically twice
as tall as David Dorfman, who played Aidan.

She kills herself, as we
see in the video. Some of our posters believe that she kept being
tormented by Samara, and I can see how that's plausible, but having
her kill herself out of guilt makes a little bit more sense to
me.

The way the calendar
works out (based on the documents we see in the official website),
Samara was in the hospital for several months, then was checked out
by Richard. Months later, when the horses began dying and Anna was
going insane, both she and Samara were taken to the hospital. A few
weeks later, both of them were discharged, and soon after that
(perhaps just a matter of days), Samara is thrown in the well and
Anna kills herself.

And, like the doctor,
they may well have assumed that the Morgans took her back to Eola
and left her there.
