Rachael out from the well (11/18/02 10:11:36 am) Reply	Eye Color Just a quick question-this might be more of a continutiy error but i was wondering if anyone else noticed... I know the actress Daviegh Chase has blue eyes. For most of the film, Samara's eyes are brown, but I could swear in a few scenes her eyes were blue-most noticeably when she's tossed in the well and opens her eyes underwater. If that's the only place, then it was probably because brown contact lenses wouldn't have been a good idea underwater, but if it occurs anywhere else, it could be an intentional thing....anyone?? Anyone?? Bueller? Bueller?

It must have been intentional, because it shows a huge closeup! What it means I have no idea. Ok back to my grumbling - the film was fantastic, but they REALLY botched up the eye scene. .

Rachael out from the well (11/18/02 11:47:53 am) Reply	not really Hmm, well, it takes more than a blue tint to turn brown eyes blue-she clearly didn't have her brown contacts in. It was a startling effect, but it still seems weird that before she goes in the well, her eyes are brown, 5 seconds later, under the water they are ice blue. It has to be more than just the contact lens issue-they could have digitally altered her eye color for the underwater shot.....

Don't laugh too hard :) I just can't see how, if it was a mistake and they forgot to put in Daveigh's brown contacts, stuff like this can make it past editing. What I meant to say earlier was if it's unsafe to wear contacts underwater, her eye color could have been touched up to brown afterward. Looks like I'm just going to have to go see it again!! Another pet peeve with me is that it is a biological FACT that 2 blue eyed people cannot produce a brown eyed child, yet somehow Rachel and Noah got around that one. Grrr.

I think is takes two generations of gene dominance to nuke it. But then again, I'm no geneticist and could be talking out of my bung here. Where's Mendel when you need him....
Rachael out from the well (11/18/02 4:06:04 pm) Reply	heh Nah, the only way your eyes come out blue is if you are bb (blue from mom, blue from dad) if you are Bb your eyes will be brown (big B always wins), but you can pass on a gene for blue, which means you could have a blue eyed child with another Bb brown eyed person. A BB brown eyed person will only have brown eyed offspring, even if they marry a Norweigan. But 2 blue eyed people are both bb and can only pass on blue. There will be a short quiz at the end of this lesson....

There is a condition known as Heterochromia iridium which causes two different colored eyes. This can be an inherited trait, although trauma and certain medications may result in increased or decreased pigmentation in one of the irises. Certain medical syndromes, such as Waardenburg syndrome, may also cause someone to have two different colored eyes. Rachael citizen of the Loopworld (11/19/02 7:52:42 am) Reply	forgot Thanks-forgot to mention variables like mutations that give us green, hazel, grey and parti (PARTY!!) colored eyes. Weirdest I've ever seen is one dude who had one eye like a pie chart-blue, green and gold. In sections!!!

If you've been dead for a while without any perservatives, you're eyes go that gross milky light blue color and it also covers over your pupils. When its the closeup of her eye, there's no pupil. So I'm pretty sure it's intentional in that part. But I dunno about the whole well thing. I think I agree with the other people-that it wouldn't be a good idea to have contacts in the water, but you think they might have gone in with a computer and fixed that, since it wasn't a very long shot of her with her eyes open. ------------------ WOW, Samara is messed up.....SHE'S MY ROLE MODEL!
